What are the issues I’m focused on?
Fiscal Stewardship
Funding for California schools can shift year to year, requiring tough decisions about how to best invest limited resources. Whether it’s supporting teachers, sustaining electives, or managing class sizes, every choice impacts students. I believe in transparent, data-driven budgeting that puts students first and keeps AUHSD financially strong for the future.
Academic Excellence
AUHSD students follow many paths — college, career, military, and more. Our job is to make sure each student has a strong academic foundation to succeed wherever they go. That means rigorous coursework, access to advanced and career-focused programs, and classrooms that spark curiosity and critical thinking.
Preparing for a Changing World
Artificial intelligence and rapid innovation are reshaping the future of work. AUHSD must prepare students not just for today’s jobs, but for those yet to be created. We should integrate problem-solving, creativity, and digital literacy across learning so every graduate is adaptable, capable, and ready to lead in a changing world.
Student and Staff Well-Being
Thriving schools depend on healthy students and supported educators. The rise of social media and the challenges of recent years have made well-being more complex than ever. AUHSD will need to prioritize mental health, create inclusive environments, and also ensure teachers and staff have the resources and encouragement they need — because when educators thrive, students do too.
Equitable Outcomes
Many AUHSD students excel, but not all have the same opportunities to succeed. We must confront those gaps and ensure every student — regardless of background or learning needs — has the support to reach their potential. True excellence means every student has an equal chance to thrive.
Effective Governance
As AUHSD moves to by-trustee area elections, our Board and District must model unity and collaboration. Every trustee — no matter where they live — should represent all students and schools across the district. Effective governance means listening, being transparent, and making decisions guided by data, integrity, and community voice.
